Doncaster regeneration route to be connected to motorway network

20. 08. 2015

Changes at Junction 3 of the M18 with White Rose Way are scheduled to take place in the next few weeks as part of the ongoing construction of the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS).

Construction of FARRRS started in October 2013 and work is progressing well towards the expected opening of the road to traffic early in 2016.

Starting next week the M18 Junction 3 roundabout will be extended, the northbound exit slip road widened with a third lane created, new traffic lights installed and the carriageway resurfaced.

Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, said: “It is excellent news that this important route will soon be connected to the motorway network enabling the work on the iPort to continue to progress. The FARRRS link road is unlocking major private sector developments that should see thousands of new jobs and homes created which will deliver a significant boost to the local and regional economy.”

To allow these important works to take place safely, the roundabout and a section of the A6182 White Rose Way up to its junction at Woodfield Way will be closed overnight with signposted diversions in place.

The temporary closures will take place:

• from 9pm on Monday 23 August to 6am on Tuesday 24 August;
• between 9pm and 6am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 1, 2 and 3 September; and
• from 9pm on Monday 14 September to 6am on Tuesday 15 September.
During these overnight periods, motorists looking to head into or out of Doncaster via this section of the motorway network will be redirected to M18 junctions 2 and 4 and the A1(M).
